BIBLICAL COUNSELING

Overview

Counseling at Cornerstone Baptist Church is based entirely on the Bible, which we believe to be completely sufficient for life's relational and behavioral struggles. Our counselors serve strictly as biblical ministers, not as medical or state-licensed clinical professionals. They offer guidance from God's Word which can transform the lives of those willing to submit to its principles.

Duration

Biblical counseling is designed to be short-term in nature and focuses on equipping individuals with the biblical principles needed to address urgent and intense challenges, while also supporting ongoing spiritual growth. Counseling care is intentionally designed to support you in no more than 8 weekly sessions; on-demand support is not available. As the community of faith is critical to spiritual formation, continued care beyond this timeframe is available through Cornerstone’s other ministries, such as discipleship, corporate worship, Bible studies, and fellowship events.

Commitment

Because true change requires active obedience and submission to our Lord Jesus Christ, our counseling program requires the following:

Commit to attend at least one church service per week at Cornerstone Baptist Church
Commit to complete any weekly readings and practical assignments given by the counselor
Commit to arrive on time and participate in each scheduled counseling session

Privacy

We deeply respect your privacy and will guard what is shared in our sessions. However, our counselors operate under the authority of the church’s policies and civil law. We are legally and morally obligated to report suspected child or elder abuse, or any immediate threat of physical harm to yourself or others.
